I Have Resurrection Magic

Chapter 50

CHAPTER 50
If I had to pick the most idiotic person in the world, I could say it without a doubt.
“You can’t find a bigger moron than this.”
The Japanese man, Kain.
The guy who had bragged that he could find his way out of the Moss Flower Cave never returned.
As I held my head in my hands, Babiyen smirked beside me.
“I knew it the moment I saw him, but he really is an idiot!”
For some reason, she looked extremely happy.
“Harua, are you going back to find him?”
We were currently waiting at the Adventurer’s Guild to be paid for the materials we had gathered in the 2nd World.
So I was pondering what to do in the meantime.
“I have to.”
But the conclusion came quickly.
To have a proper conversation with Bulldog-ajeossi, I needed to catch the murderer.
And to do that, I needed to find Kain, who could be used as bait for the murderer.
“H-Harua-ssi, they said Arshel-ssi isn’t back yet either?” Horizon chimed in, having gathered some information.
Arshel, who had left before us, also hadn’t returned.
My brow furrowed the moment I heard that.
I had a gut feeling that something had happened.
“Yes, here is your payment.”
Just then, a Guild staff member came to pay us.
“Thank you. I’d like to deposit this money in the Adventurer’s Guild’s exclusive bank and immediately apply to enter the 2nd World.”
“What? Right away, without even resting?”
“Yes, I have something to do.”
The Guild staff member looked puzzled but didn’t press the issue.
It might have been different back when I was a porter, but now that I was a Saint, my credibility was high.
This is why there’s a hierarchy to professions.
The old sayings are just words meant to stimulate a sense of morality that’s detached from reality.
“Yes, it’s been filed.”
As soon as the staff member handed me the entry permit, I took it and turned around.
The three of them immediately followed me.
They must all be tired, but I was grateful they followed without complaint.
I should treat them to a meal after this is all over.
“Let’s go find that idiot.”
Kain, wandering around the Moss Flower Cave. I had to find him.

We re-entered the 2nd World.
The damp air unique to the Moss Flower Cave was thick around us.
“Horizon, can you find Kain’s tracks?”
“Y-Yes, I’ll look for them!”
Horizon eagerly began her search.
If I had known this would happen, I would have asked her to search from the beginning. We’d just wasted a trip.
Still, at least we didn’t have any luggage to worry about, so I decided to look on the bright side.
“This way, I think it’s this way.”
Horizon followed the tracks of people who had walked through the cave. Most of the other adventurers had already left.
The tracks leading away from the exit path were few.
So if we followed the most recent tracks, we should be able to find Kain.
We followed Horizon’s lead, moving at a fast pace.
Skitter, skitter.
Even though the Regular Army had cleared Arachne from the Moss Flower Cave, they hadn’t eliminated every Fantasy Species.
Perhaps because of that, spider-like Fantasy Species appeared in our path.
They looked like they hadn’t eaten in a long time, baring their fangs as they charged at us.
We were already in a hurry.
We didn’t have time to deal with these things.
Red lightning coiled around the sword of Aranseol, who had rushed forward.
Her blade drew a clean arc, slicing the spider monster in half.
A torrent of flames followed, incinerating the spider monster’s head.
Thanks to them, we were able to press on without delay.
“Uh, H-Harua-ssi, over there!”
The moment we looked in the direction Horizon was pointing, we stopped in our tracks.
There was a woman with a familiar face.
To be precise, it was just her face.
In the distance, we could see a decapitated body.
It was the body that had once been attached to the head.
Furthermore, a Corpse Spider was loitering in front of it.
A gourmet who had come to savor the dead body.
“Arshel.”
Aranseol’s brow furrowed as she said the name.
The Little Viper, Arshel.
She had been found dead.
Her neck was cleanly severed.
That meant whoever cut her neck was highly skilled.
I knew instantly who had killed her.
I had seen a neck severed this cleanly before.
The No-Named murderer.
This was her doing.
Aranseol chased the Corpse Spider away.
The spider, its meal interrupted, raised its front legs in protest, but when Aranseol discharged a current of lightning, it scurried away.

“Are we too late?”
At Babiyen’s question, I immediately knelt down.
If Arshel was attacked, it meant she must have known something.
She would have information.
“Aranseol, bring me her body.”
“Got it.”
Aranseol quickly brought Arshel’s body over.
Then, she placed the head back on the neck.
It was such a clean cut that the neck and body fit together perfectly, with almost no flesh torn away.
It was a fresh reminder of how dangerous that murderer was.
“Aranseol, do you think you can beat this murderer?”
I have no combat abilities.
But I can at least ensure she doesn't have to risk defeat.
For us, death was not the end.
So, when I asked, Aranseol gripped her sword tightly.
A deep fighting spirit blazed in her eyes.
“Harua, I never told you, but I’ve hunted Transferees who committed murder before.”
A long time ago, Aranseol’s family was murdered by a Transferee.
To this day, she still didn’t know who the culprit was.
So, in her search for the killer, Aranseol had pursued many potential suspects.
“My sword was forged for the sole purpose of killing Transferees.”
In the past, Aranseol’s sword was steeped in vengeance.
Her sword, wielded by a woman driven mad by revenge, was optimized for killing Transferees.
Although meeting me had lessened her thirst for revenge somewhat, it still lingered in her heart.
“Could it be…”
“It’s not this person. The one who killed my parents didn’t use a sword.”
Aranseol’s eyebrows trembled as if she was reliving that day.
Babiyen looked curious about what had happened but didn’t ask.
She had sensed it was a topic not to be touched lightly.
“But I won’t lose. From the moment I heard about this person, I never once thought I would.”
Aranseol’s goal was to prevent others from ending up in the same situation as her.
That was why she had no intention of losing to the No-Named murderer.
I decided to trust in Aranseol’s will.
With that, I placed my hand on Arshel’s body.
I had used resurrection magic left and right, but I was still trying to keep it a secret as much as possible.
But when things got this urgent, this was the only thing I could rely on.
“Horizon.”
As long as we were traveling as a team, I knew the day would come when I had to reveal it properly. Besides, I had already revived in front of Horizon once before.
The cat was pretty much out of the bag.
It might seem ridiculous to say it now, but I decided to tell her the truth.
“Can you promise to keep what you’re about to see a secret from now on?”
When I asked Horizon for her promise, her eyes went wide.
Then, she clenched her fists and nodded eagerly.
“Y-Yes, I’ll keep it a secret!”
I knew she wasn’t the type to go around gossiping.
More importantly, I was the benefactor who had saved the people she considered family.
She would grant my request in return for the debt of her family’s lives.
Light extended from my hand and began to be absorbed into Arshel’s body.
Soon, Arshel’s neck began to reattach.
Horizon’s eyes slowly widened.
She might have already guessed, but seeing it with her own eyes was a different story.
Then, Arshel’s eyes slowly fluttered open.
“Hiek, hik!”
The moment she came to, Arshel screamed.
She immediately grabbed onto me, who was right in front of her, and tried to hide her body.
She was trembling violently, clearly terrified.
Just then, the back of my head began to prickle for some reason.
I glanced back and saw Aranseol staring at me with cold eyes.
Is her fighting spirit boiling over now that she's seen it for herself?
Her thirst for revenge was still strong.
“Hic.”

Meanwhile, Horizon covered her mouth.
She looked extremely shocked to see a dead person come back to life.
Babiyen, on the other hand, just let out a breath. She was seeing it for the first time too, so that reaction was understandable.
“Arshel-ssi, are you with us?”
“Wh-Where…”
“The Moss Flower Cave. We found you injured and unconscious and healed you. Do you remember what happened?”
She looked at me with confused eyes.
Then, as if she remembered something, her eyes widened.
“J-Jinny, Jinny was chasing me. As soon as I saw her, I ran, and I saw Kain in the distance, so I was screaming for help, and…”
Arshel was speaking incoherently.

Since he had just been resurrected, his mind couldn't have been all there.

That damn serial killer.
It seems she’d been following Arshel and Cain using her Invisibility Ability ever since we first met them.
That psychopathic bitch. It gives me the creeps.

"Which way did Cain go?"
"Th-That way."
Arshel pointed in a certain direction.
The moment I saw it, I got to my feet.
"You've been through a lot. You can go back now."
"Wh-W-Wait, y-you want me to go alone?"
Arshel grabbed my collar tightly. Her face screamed that she was too scared to go through the Moss Flower Cave alone.
"I'm so scared."
She subtly pressed her body against mine, showing off her vulnerability. Her eyes held the desperation of a woman pleading for help.
And I slapped her hand away.
She stared at me with a dumbfounded expression, her hand having been knocked aside.
No man would fall for the seductions of a female monkey.
"Ms. Arshel, we're going to hunt the serial killer. Are you coming with us?"
Just then, Aranseol stepped between me and Arshel.
Arshel flinched, looking at us as if we were out of our minds. Then, she steadied herself against the wall and staggered to her feet.
"I can't follow you if you're going to your deaths. Thanks for the help. You saved my life."
She had already died once, but I didn't bother pointing that out.
"If you make it back alive, come find me. I'll reward you."
Was her stuttering from before just an act? To be like this after dying and coming back to life… this woman is no ordinary person.
Still, thanks to her, I understood the situation.
Cain. That guy is being hunted by the serial killer right now.
"Let's pick up the pace."
We had to catch the killer before she killed Cain and left.
Just as we were about to speed up:
"Ah, w-wait a moment."
We then discovered an unexpected sight.
Multiple footprints were stamped on the ground.
The moment I saw at least four sets of prints, I had a hunch.
There were others who were chasing Cain and the killer before us.
And a battle had already taken place between them.

But Horizon had stopped us for another reason.
Clack—
The sound of heels echoed.
From another passage connected to ours, a group of people appeared.
"Well, well, we meet again?"
The man with the friendly-looking face grinned.
It was the Radiance Faith and Bulldog.
This damn meeting plaza.
