I Have Resurrection Magic

Chapter 117

CHAPTER 117

The Regular Army’s infinite resurrection through my magic.
With this, the Regular Army became an invincible force and completely wiped out the Black Dawn headquarters.
No matter how desperately Black Dawn fought with guerrilla tactics, an army that does not know death is a fearsome thing.
Thanks to this, the Regular Army’s morale soared, and they charged forward like madmen.
The result was…
“This victory is for the Saint!”
“The Saint is with us!”
The Regular Army roared the name of the Saint who had brought them back from death.
Why are these people so obsessed with the title ‘Saint’?
Thanks to what I did during the recent earthquake, I was already hearing ‘Aren’t you the Saint!’ wherever I went. Restaurants would refuse to charge me, and clothing stores would offer their wares as gifts. It was nice, but still.
It means my name has become well-known in the capital.
It was what I had intended, but experiencing it firsthand was inconvenient.
With my reputation getting this big, I couldn’t do anything reckless anymore.
On top of that, if it became known that my contribution was the greatest in this operation to annihilate the Black Dawn headquarters, all hell would break loose.
I had used Resurrection magic this wantonly.
There was no hiding it anymore.
“Do you not regret it?” Ririran asked me after I finally stopped the infinite resurrections upon hearing news of the Regular Army’s victory.
Do I regret it?
I didn’t know.
From this day forward, my life would change completely.
No matter how much I tried to gag the Regular Army, there were too many of them.
It was next to impossible to keep all their mouths shut.
Naturally, my life as an adventurer was over, too.
There was no way I could work as an adventurer when I had become a celebrity everywhere I went.
Furthermore, people from all over the world would begin to target me.
Some would offer anything to obtain the power of Resurrection magic. Others would beg for it with their lives on the line.
A person's life is precious to everyone.
Just as there are those who cherish their own lives, there are those who cherish the lives of others.
It was certain that people in various positions from every nation would come calling for me.
“What can I do? In the end, it’s a fact that I have Resurrection magic, right?”
“You could have hidden it for longer if you had tried. But, boy, you are too kind a person for that.”
“Me? Kind?”
The guy who resorts to infinite resurrection torture when things go south?
“Yes. Your words may be harsh, but when you see someone suffering before your eyes, you cannot turn away. You inevitably extend a hand to help, even if it goes against your own interests.”
“I feel like I’ve lived my life motivated by profit, not like some pushover.”
“If you were that kind of person, no one would have remained by your side.”
As Ririran said this, she raised a hand.
In the distance, two people were approaching, carrying food and water.
“Why is Harua so determined to make his own life difficult?”
“Well, Harua is a greedy person. He doesn’t want his own life to be ruined, but he also hates seeing other people’s lives get ruined.”
“It’s meddling. Just meddling. He’s the only one who suffers in the end.”
“I like that about Harua.”
“L-L-Like? What’s to like?! Aranseol, how can you just say things like that? Is it proper for a grown woman to be so forward?”
“I see it as being honest with one’s feelings. Ah, Harua!”
Aranseol waved, a loaf of bread tucked under her arm.
Babiyen shot me a sullen look before sighing and turning her head away.
Come to think of it, I hadn’t told them about Horizon.
They probably didn’t ask on purpose.
They must have had an inkling of what the answer would be.
Besides that, Lululio hasn’t been revived.
I’d tried using Resurrection magic on her finger, but it didn’t work.
I didn’t think she’d been captured by the Sin, so she must have escaped safely.
If so, she might still be in the 2nd World.
She had traveled quite a distance, so it wouldn’t be easy to get out in a single day.
“Here’s some food. You’re hungry, right? You’ve barely eaten, just been using Resurrection magic.”
“Thanks.”
As I took the sandwich Aranseol offered, Babiyen abruptly held out a water bottle from the side.
She was thoughtful enough to bring water so my throat wouldn’t get dry. I was grateful.
“The lieutenant generals should be returning soon,” Ririran commented.
The Black Dawn headquarters was finished.
But there were still many bigger problems.
From the Imperial Vault being robbed to the Sin of Wrath.
Once again, problems were popping up everywhere.
Black Dawn hadn’t given up yet.
This was a battle that wouldn’t end until every last one of them was caught.
But that wasn’t my role to play.
I had Resurrection magic, not the ability to root out Black Dawn.
So, I had to trust in the Regular Army’s capabilities.
“Aranseol, Babiyen.”
I’d leave what I can to others.
I have my own job to do.
“Let’s go save Horizon.”
Aranseol and Babiyen’s eyes widened.
I didn’t know if it was even possible, but I had to try everything I could.

The Regular Army Capital Garrison Branch.
With Ririran’s help, we arrived there easily and immediately began our search of the facility.
Fortunately, the Regular Army soldiers were extremely cooperative the moment they saw me.
They already knew me through Inferno, and more importantly, they knew about my recent accomplishments.
“It’s a request from the Saint himself! We’ll find it at once!”
The Sin of Wrath, Asheria Eve, had killed Horizon here.
Afterward, to erase her identity from her time in the Regular Army, she had created a corpse using the imprisoned Babiyen as a base.
That charred body.
That corpse was Horizon.
At the time, Inferno had examined the body carefully.
He must have stored it somewhere separately.
“Y-You’re saying Asheria Eve was the one who made me go berserk back then?”
“That’s right. Babiyen, you were the first one to meet her.”
“U-Ughhh, my brain feels like it’s in pain.”
Babiyen clutched her head, crying out in agony.
The thought that Asheria Eve had messed with her brain must have been driving her mad.
“...I will never forgive that woman.”
A murderous glint flashed in Aranseol’s eyes.
It was a declaration that she would kill Asheria Eve the next time they met.
She had killed Horizon and made a mockery of their relationships.
I felt the same way as Aranseol.
Asheria Eve was a woman who absolutely had to be killed.
But having experienced her strength firsthand, I honestly couldn’t guarantee it was possible.
In the end, all we could do was become stronger.
We had to grow into powerhouses that no one could touch, far stronger than we were now.
“We found it!”
Just then, the soldier I had asked returned, having found the body.
I quickly ran over.
The morgue where the bodies were stored.
There lay a single corpse, burned completely black.
It hadn’t decomposed, likely preserved by magic, but it was in a gruesome state.
“.......Can you really revive this?” Babiyen asked frankly.
The corpse looked that hopeless.
But…
“Babiyen, I revived you, didn’t I?”
“Oh.”
She had been burned by the Red Flame Lord once before.
Even then, Babiyen had been revived perfectly fine.
More importantly, my Resurrection magic had improved since then.
While reviving someone from just a strand of hair was still impossible, bringing someone back from a corpse like this wouldn’t be difficult.
The problem of Shishiroka’s Half-Seed still remains unsolved.
All I could do was continue to train.
“Can we take this body?”
“If you can revive her, it would be a great help to us. An important piece of evidence would be coming back to life, after all.”
That was true.
Agreeing with the soldier, I rolled up my sleeves.
Horizon.
You were right in front of me, and I didn't recognize you at all.
So, this is my atonement.
I activated Resurrection magic over the charred corpse.
The magic extended from my hand and began to envelop the body.
The moment all the magic had seeped into the corpse, it finally began to restore itself.
A naked woman with pale white skin started to form.
Her appearance was familiar to us, her face identical.
Above all, the two mounds of flesh, far larger and more magnificent than most, identified her.
Suddenly, my vision went dark.
It was Aranseol, covering my eyes from behind.
How many naked bodies does she think I’ve seen while using Resurrection magic? You two were just clinging to me naked a little while ago after I revived you from your fingers.
Still, I figured it was a gesture of consideration for Horizon, so I decided to just endure it.
“U-Hnngh?”
A moment later, a groan escaped Horizon’s lips.
As she slowly opened her eyes, Babiyen handed her the clothes she had brought.
“Horizon, wear this.”
“Oh, M-Ms. Babiyen? H-Huh, why am I naked?”
Confused from the memory loss that comes with revival, Horizon scrambled about in a panic.
She hastily put on her clothes, an uncomprehending look on her face.
“H-Huh, I’m sure I came here to be interrogated by the Regular Army. What?”
She looked around like a small animal.
Then her eyes met mine. Horizon tilted her head and gave an awkward smile.
“H-Harua, what’s wrong? Y-You look like you’re about to cry.”
The real Horizon, whom I was seeing for the first time since the spider’s den.
Her time had stopped back then.
But today, her time had finally begun to move forward again.
The proof was in her kindness, even in the face of her own confusion.
It was the same for Babiyen and Aranseol.
To them, too, Horizon was a precious person.
Asheria Eve had scanned Horizon’s brain to impersonate her perfectly.
And though it was an act, it was ultimately born from the real Horizon’s inherent goodness.
Knowing that fact, the two of them couldn’t help but feel heartbroken.
Heartbroken that Horizon hadn’t been able to share that time with them.
“Sorry, it’s just…”
I pressed my fingers to the corners of my eyes for a moment, then stood up.
“Horizon, are you hungry?”
We never even had a proper meal together.
“Let’s go get something to eat. Something delicious. We’ve all been through a lot.”
There was so much to tell her.
For her sake, and for ours.
Only now, today, could we finally have our celebration for clearing the spider’s den.
